I pass this tree on a daily basis, but today it struck me.  I actually looked at it and paid attention to it.  It’s quite an eyesore, but I like it.  There have been plenty of days I have felt like this little ugly tree.  There are hundreds of trees, bushes, shrubs, etc. on campus, and this is probably the saddest looking one there.  In a way, I respect this little tree.  Maybe I’m making a mountain out of a molehill, but I think the deeper metaphor of this ugly little tree is quite substantial.
I wonder if it will look any better in the Spring when it gets leaves…

So…I’ve gotten a wee bit behind.

Hey guys, I am really sorry about how I haven’t posted.  I have my pictures taken, but I just blink and the days go right on by.  I will post some stuff now, but of course since it has been a few days I can’t really say much will come of the blog writings.  At least I got my pictures and I promise I will be doing my best from now on to keep up with all of this.  I knew this project would be a big one when I took it on, and I should have been doing a better job of keeping up with it.

There hasn’t been a Monday in session all semester up to this point, so I still had not had my physics lab.  My day was pretty uneventful for the most part.  I had a scholarship meeting in between classes.  I really need to be working on scholarships because one year at Carolina is roughly $19,000.  Yeah, that’s pretty high.
It was a long day because my physics lab doesn’t let out until 6pm.  After school I went home and changed to go to clogging.  The dance we’re working on right now is pretty intense.  I am really liking it though.  I have a competition on February 12th in South Carolina, and I am excited about it because it will be my first competition.  I had to miss the one in October due to the fact that I had to take the ACT on the same day.  The only thing I am really worried about is getting down there.  It is a long drive and everyone is leaving out at night and my truck probably wouldn’t make it if I tried.
After I came home I was really tired, but I had an artistic stroke.  I draw occasionally, but it is usually nothing I intend on sharing.  I really enjoy drawing with Sharpies, and that just happened to be what was closest to me when I started.  I actually drew this off of the logo on my favorite Carolina hat.  Sharpie is pretty unforgiving, so if you mess up, you either have to adjust your drawing or start all over.  I did this in one go and it only took me about 10 minutes.  I am pretty proud of it.  I probably won’t make something nice again for a couple of months.

Church as usual in the morning.  I had not been in a couple of weeks due to Michael and Terri’s weeding and work on Sundays.  I always love that refreshing feeling you get from a good church service.  Then we went and visited a church member who has been in and out of the hospital since about November.  I really love her and the whole family.  They are so nice and sweet.  God will certainly take care of them.
After we left the hospital, we ate at a really nice Mexican restaurant called Dos Amigos.  It wasn’t as good as Pancho Villa in Granite, but it was a big open space with lots of windows and sunshine.  It also had a semi-nude woman goddess thing as you walked in.  Yep, it was pretty classy.
So I am still learning to take my camera around with me everywhere, because I did not have it with me, and I am so absent minded it is hard for me to stay sharp and whatnot.
I ended up taking a picture of my sister drawing what was supposed to be a self-portrait.  I think it looked more like a mermaid, and my sister is definitely NOT a mermaid.  I got a really big kick out of it though…but she didn’t.
WE ALSO HAD HOMEMADE MILKSHAKES!  That was something amazing.  I wanted to take a picture of the milkshake, but I drank it so fast that I didn’t get to.
I PROMISE I will work on this camera thing.  =D

Today was a good day.  I did not have to work anywhere on a Saturday for the first time in a long time, so I started my Saturday with my ritualistic 8AM viewing of Pokemon.  You know, they aren’t like they used to be.  This one in particular really ticked me off because Ash had to battle this guy named Tobias and Ash lost because Tobias used legendary Pokemon.  It was totally unfair.
Then I continued my fad of acting like a 10 year old and I played Mega Man X4 on my, old but still working, PS1.  Mega Man games are so classic.  Who doesn’t love a good side-scrolling platformer?
Then that night I went out with Allie.  We went to Captain’s Galley.  I used to work at Captains Galley for 9 months between 2008-2009.  I had not been in there since I left in April of ‘09.  I had a few little mini reunions, but nothing major.  I avoided eye contact with a few of them and there were several that I didn’t know.  The evil manager that was there when I was is no more, so the place seemed a bit happier. It was also nice to be able to say “Yeah, I used to work here, but I’m a Certified Pharmacy Technician now and I’ll be graduating with my Associate’s Degree in May and attending UNC Chapel Hill in the fall.”
It still hasn’t sunk in yet that I’ll be going to my “Dream School”.  Oh, and Friday night Allie gave me a Carolina dog-tag necklace.  I’m thinking I’m going to try and make a keychain out of it, since I don’t really wear necklaces/dog tags.
After we went out to eat we stopped at the movie rental place and picked up “Easy A”.  It was an awesome movie.  Everyone should watch it.  While we were in the movie rental place, we were joking around about the beauties on the covers of the horror movies.  These two were on top of one another and Allie couldn’t resist having her picture made with her perfect man.  A pig nose and a pot belly…guess I don’t fit the bill.

Today was nerve-wracking.
Chapel Hill was supposed to post their decisions online today.  I checked before school, and nothing had been posted.  I also checked after I finished class at 12 and nothing had been posted.  Then I had to work 12:30-9 with no Internet.  The wait was long and perilous.  While I was at work, people kept texting me and asking me about it, but I had no answer for them.  I found out that one guy I know got in (but I don’t think he is even going to go), such a waste if you ask me.
Anyways, I got home and rushed down to pull up my personal myUNC account.  When I did, this is what I got!
Chapel Hill here I come!  It has been a long-term goal of mine to get in, and now that I finally have, I just have to get it paid for.
Can you say scholarships?

So today’s picture actually has a really good story behind it, so I am going to write it out like a script for you so you can better understand it.
Note: The “Creep” is the guy sitting down on the right.

Wesley and Josh are standing outside at CCC&TI having a normal conversation on the sidewalk.
Enter CREEP
Creep: “Hey, do either of you guys have a lighter?”
Josh & Wesley: seeming hesitant and confused “…no…”
Creep: “Oh ok.  I guess that’s good then.  You guys don’t smoke!  That’s good!”
Josh: “Yeah, I don’t smoke.”
Wesley: Obviously joking “Yeah, I don’t smoke…cigarettes”
Creep: Excited “You smoke weed, too?  Really?  I love it!  I only smoke it sometimes, though.”
Josh and Wesley exchange bewildered looks and try not to burst into laughter
The creep asks the two a question that they do not hear because they are communicating without using words and are preoccupied.
Wesley: “umm…”
The creep has apparently been talking about his weed smoking habits this entire time, but Josh and Wesley have not been listening.
Creep: “So do you smoke…(something strange sounding we did not know what it was)?”
Wesley: Serious and solemn “No, I don’t smoke anything.”
Creep: “What?”
Wesley: “I don’t smoke anything at all.  I was joking.”
Creep:  Suddenly nervous “Oh…ok.  Well that’s cool.”
Creep walks away.  Josh and Wesley proceed to laugh hysterically an commend themselves for making it through the awkward situation.
Josh: You are never allowed to talk to anyone EVER AGAIN!
THE END
Yeah…there are some real freaks at the college, and Wesley attracts them.
On a side note, it was really strange trying to get this picture of him without him noticing.  Gotta love creeping on creeps.  That’s me!
